ProTaxPro.com’s Text-To-Sign feature is free and included in your package with the purchase any software package! This feature is available for tax year 2022 and all subsequent years on returns set to be eFiled.
To complete the Text-To-Sign process with your client:
1) On the Return Summary page select Sign the Return
If this option is not available, your filing method may be set to Paper File.
2) Confirm your filing method as File Electronically (E-file)
3) On the Federal Online Filing Signature Page, scroll down to the Signature Options section and select eSign Form 8879
4) When this page is completed and saved, you get the option to Send Mobile Invitation. Select this and Save the page.
5) Your client should receive this text that will allow them to sign their return after verifying their information.
6) You can view the progress of their signature using the eSign Documents tab
Once your client has signed their documents, you should be able to re-enter the Federal Online Filing Signature Page to successfully save and complete the federal signature process.
Please Note:
- A Mobile Phone Number must be entered on the Contact Information page in order for this option to become available.
- The Signature Link is currently only available for 10 minutes after the taxpayer receives it. If your client’s link has been timed out, the link must be resent using the eSign Documents tab
